All the materials below are free for you to download, print and use.
This booklet is a guide for parents and caregivers of young children and includes practical ideas for supporting informal learning at home. The booklet is available in English, Afrikaans, isiZulu and isiXhosa.
These handouts give suggestions on how to support learning at home through talking, reading books, telling stories, drawing and writing.
This pack contains game boards, picture cards and word cards for teaching early reading and writing. These resources are available in English and Afrikaans.
‘Little Books’ instructions and examples
These books can be printed out for children to fold, colour in and read. The books are available in English, Afrikaans, isiXhosa and isiZulu.
The alphabet charts can be used to help children to learn letter-sounds. They are available in English, Afrikaans, isiZulu and isiXhosa.
These picture sequences can be used to develop oral and written language skills. Use the pictures to tell a story and then encourage children to retell the story in their own words. Older children can use the picture sequences to help them to write a short story.
