Wordworks launches LMS to support ECD practitioners in the Eastern Cape
10/06/2025
In June 2025, Wordworks hosted an exciting onboarding session for the Little Stars Learning Management System (LMS) at Rhodes University CSD in the Eastern Cape. Early learning practitioners and school principals explored the platform, marking a major step in expanding digital access to early literacy training.

Practitioners from the Ubunye Foundation, Rhodes CSD, and the Lebone Foundation (including the Director) participated, demonstrating strong commitment to strengthening early learning. The session was bilingual, conducted in both isiXhosa and English, ensuring inclusivity and reflecting Wordworks’ belief that learning in the home language deepens cultural identity and supports stronger literacy foundations.
Participants enthusiastically used their smartphones to download the Moodle app and navigated the digital resources, with particular excitement for the isiXhosa audio content. This innovative feature highlights Wordworks’ commitment to meeting children and teachers where they are.
Reflecting on the day, Wordworks’ Early Literacy Specialist, Bukelwa Yuze, shared:
“The feedback session was filled with enthusiasm, energy, and gratitude. Participants spoke about how meaningful the content was and how excited they are to integrate Little Stars into their work.”
This initiative was made possible through the generous support of the Get It Done Foundation. By combining technology, bilingual resources, and hands-on support, Wordworks is empowering practitioners to deliver effective early literacy instruction and ensure more children have the chance to thrive.
