Building a legacy of literacy at Eldene Primary

18/06/2025

Eldene Primary has built a strong tradition of supporting early literacy through the Wordworks Home-School Partnerships (HSP) Programme. Since 2017, the school has trained 18 HSP facilitators, equipping parents and caregivers with practical tools to support children’s language and literacy at home.

What began with just two passionate champions has grown into a remarkable team, demonstrating the school’s ongoing commitment to strengthening home-school partnerships and improving children’s literacy and language development. Teachers and facilitators dedicate their Saturdays to guiding parents, ensuring learning continues beyond the classroom.

HSP graduations at Eldene are more than a milestone – they celebrate learning, collaboration, and impact. Parents share their successes, teachers recognise growth, and the school community comes together to honour the collective journey of learning.

The story of Eldene Primary reflects the power of community-driven literacy initiatives: when schools, educators, and families work together, children develop strong foundations in language, reading, and communication that prepare them for lifelong success. The HSP programme creates a space where parents and teachers can share ideas, build cooperation, and empower parents as their children’s first teachers.

At Wordworks, we are proud to continue partnering with Eldene Primary, celebrating every parent, caregiver, and teacher who contributes to shaping confident, capable young learners.
