Gr R intervention in mining communities

Location: Bojanala, Capricorn South, Capricorn North, John Taolo Gaetsewe, Mogalakwena, Pixley Ka Seme, Sekhukhune East & Vhembe East education districts in the North West, Northern Cape and Limpopo.
Project model:
Through trained Gr R literacy and maths coaches, Wordworks and RED INK have trained and resourced Gr R teachers to implement the Stellar Home Language and R- Maths classroom programmes in 86 classrooms. JET Education Services manages the project in the four business units of Anglo American South Africa mines.
Sustaining the intervention:
Foundation Phase Department Heads will be equipped to support and manage classroom implementation. Lead teachers will be supported to facilitate professional learning communities to ensure the project’s interventions are sustained. In addition, after the project period, Foundation Phase department heads and Gr R teachers will become members of Wordworks online programme network,granting them access to resources, courses and on-going programme support systems.
