Reflections on HSP
At a glance
The Home-School Partnerships (HSP) programme has been one of Wordworks’ flagship programmes since 2006. While we have not had funding for a large external evaluation, a number of studies and reflections have been done. We hope that by collecting them together here we create a rich and textured narrative of the interesting and important work that has been done using HSP.

The role of family literacy programmes to support emergent literacy in young learners (2016)
This study evaluated a modified version of the HSP programme, showing how family literacy initiatives can strengthen parent-child interactions, build parental confidence, and foster school-family collaboration to support young children’s emergent literacy in a South African school context.
Determining the efficacy of the Home-School Partnerships Programme (2015)
This study, conducted in 2010 and 2011 sought to determine the effectiveness of HSP. The results of the study confirmed the positive impact that the programme had upon the parents.
