Stellar in solar farm communities

Project model:
Wordworks recruited and trained a coach from the region to train and support eight Gr R teachers to implement the Stellar Home Language programme. Having a coach in the region provides the opportunity for regular support through classroom observations and in communities of practice sessions. The four project schools were identified from communities that are in close proximity to the Lesedi Solar Power project in the Northern Cape.
Sustaining the intervention:
Foundation Phase Department Heads are equipped to support implementation in Gr R classrooms. There are plans to propose funding to support the transition of learners from Grade R to Grade 1 as well equip Grade 1 teachers in understanding emergent literacy. In addition, after the project period,Subject Advisors,Department Heads and Grade R teachers will become members of Wordworks online programme network, granting them access to resources, courses and on -going programme support systems.
