Project model:
Through a train-the-trainer model, Wordworks trains subject advisors to provide Stellar Home Language training and support to the 90 Gr R teachers in the John Taolo district. The provincial education department prioritised the need to support Setswana Home Language in this initial year, with intention and effort being made to seek future funding to be able to roll out the language programme into the whole region.
Sustaining the intervention:
Subject Advisors are capacitated to support early language and emergent literacy in Gr R. In addition, after the project period, trained Subject Advisors and Grade R teachers will become members of Wordworks online programme network,granting them access to resources, courses and programme support systems.
