Strengthening early learning in Worcester: Wordworks and Do More Foundation deepen training collaboration
June 2024
Wordworks returned to Worcester in 2024 to facilitate a second early literacy training workshop with early childhood development practitioners supported by the Do More Foundation. The session built on an introductory workshop held in April and deepened engagement with early literacy programs to support early childhood education in South Africa.

The follow-up workshop focused on building practitioners’ capacity to implement Wordworks’ Little Stars (for 4–5-year-olds in Pre-Grade R) and Every Word Counts (for children aged 0–3 years). Hands-on activities included introducing songs, enhancing phonological awareness through listening and singing, and using picture sequencing to support storytelling skills.
The partnership between Wordworks and the Do More Foundation aims to strengthen early literacy and numeracy practices in ECD centres. By equipping practitioners with evidence-based tools and strategies, the programme supports the development of language and communication skills during the most critical early years.
This collaborative effort reflects a shared commitment to providing young children in Worcester with enriched early learning experiences, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success.
