Wordworks launches second year of Think Equal program in Western Cape

Following a successful 2023 rollout, Wordworks launched the second year of the Think Equal program in early 2024 across the North and East districts of the Western Cape Education Department. The South district launch took place the week before, supporting early childhood education in South Africa.

In 2023, the program was implemented in 598 out of 606 targeted Grade R classrooms across participating schools – a remarkable 99% implementation rate. Building on this achievement, the program expanded in 2024 with the aim of reaching 6,660 children in 222 Grade R classrooms across 75 schools.

We look forward to continuing this important journey with our partner schools and dedicated teachers, staying true to our mission of changing lives through literacy. This work aligns closely with Think Equal’s mission to drive global systems change by introducing social and emotional learning at the start of a child’s educational journey.

About Think Equal

Think Equal is a story-based global programme that equips children aged three to six with 25 essential social and emotional learning skills and competencies. Through engaging, age-appropriate lessons, the programme supports young learners in developing empathy, self-regulation, and respect for diversity – helping set the foundation for positive life outcomes. In the Western Cape, the program is being implemented by Grade R teachers in selected schools in partnership with Wordworks.
