Wordworks partners with Africa Ignite! to support early language development

Wordworks partnered with Africa Ignite! to present a workshop in Mbazwana, KZN—introducing isiZulu story-based activities that enrich Grade R and Grade 1 children’s home language and support language development in early childhood.

The workshop brought together 30 teachers from 15 schools. Grade 3 and Grade 4 teachers were trained on the story-based activities as well as letters and sounds activities in English for First Additional Language lessons. Teachers enjoyed engaging with the materials and are excited to begin using the sequence stories, games, and activities in their classrooms.

The Africa!Ignite team will visit each school for four days in the second half of 2019 to facilitate storytelling and support teachers in their classrooms and library corners.
